St. John's F Harkless declares for 2012 NBA Draft

Well it looks as though we have our first official underclassmen declaration for the 2012 Draft after St. John's forward Moe Harkless announced his decision today.

In his only season with St. John's , the 6'8" Harkless led the team in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (8.6) despite playing in the always-strong Big East conference. Harkless likely projects as a small forward at the next level, but will need to improve on his three-point shooting to enhance his draft prospects (20.2% this season).

On the season, Harkless acquitted himself well against NBA-level talent, as he had 16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals against Terrence Jones of Kentucky, as well as 30 points and 13 rebounds against perennial ACC powerhouse Duke.

I currently project him as a mid-to-late first round pick in 2012, as his athleticism and ability to rebound and defend (1.6 blocks, 1.4 steals) will likely entice a playoff-caliber team to draft and develop the other facets of his game.
